Tracy V. Fitch departed this Earth on Sunday, February 26, 2023 surrounded by her family and long time friend.

Tracy graduated from Iowa City West High School, earned her B.A. from The University of Iowa, and M.A. from The University of Northern Iowa. She was a long-time resident of Iowa City, but also lived in various other cities around the US and world.

Tracy was a kind-hearted soul who enjoyed experiencing other peoples’ cultures and languages. She loved animals and rescued as many as she could. She was the biggest fan of The Rolling Stones, but also appreciated a wide variety of musical genres.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Robert M. and Orene C. Fitch, and many beloved pets. She is survived by her sisters: Susan Schabilion Jones of La Paz, BCS and Jennifer Ritchie of Iowa City; nephews: Robert Schabilion and Richard Schabilion of Atlanta, GA, Edward (Sarah) Hash of Iowa City; niece, Joanna Ritchie of Iowa City, and dear friend Salvador Flores of Tiffin, and last but certainly not least beloved miniature Schnauzer, Hildy.

A private celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Tracy's memory to the animal charity of your choice.
