Donald “Don” Eldon Gorvin, 53, lifelong resident of the Iowa City area passed away unexpectedly on February 16, 2023.

Visitation will be Monday, February 20, 2023 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow at The Kirkwood Room before burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford, Iowa.

Donald Eldon Gorvin was born on July 27, 1969 in Iowa City, Iowa to James and Anna (Spratt) Gorvin. He grew up in Iowa City, graduating from West High School in 1990.

He worked at Goodwill for more than 30 years. Donald participated in Special Olympics for many years and loved shopping, thrifting, dressing up, bowling, and playing basketball. He loved planning parties, including planning his own birthday party a year in advance.

He was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City.

To know Donald was to love Donald. He loved everyone and never met a stranger.

Survivors include his siblings Pat Grosvenor of Coralville, Paul Gorvin of Iowa City, Connie (Roger) Mullinnix of Iowa City; sisters-in-law Cindy Gorvin and Maureen Irish-Gorvin; brother-in-law Phil Escher; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Anna Mary Gorvin; siblings Pamela Escher, Susanna Breno, Jim Gorvin II, Mic Gorvin, Barbara Irish-Gorvin, Bruce Gorvin and Paula Gorvin; and brothers-in-law Joe Breno and John Grosvenor.
