Terry Alvin Brown, 83, passed away in Riverside, IA Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Terry was born June 23, 1939 in Watertown, NY, the son of Ralph Burton and Madeline Eva (House) Brown. He was a graduate of Watertown High School and eventually moved to Syracuse, NY with his first wife of 19 years, Margaret Lillian Robinson and his first two daughters. On June 21, 1986 Terry married his beloved Joni Frank in Syracuse, NY. After many years in Syracuse, he and Joni lived in Jacksonville, FL; Brooklyn Park, MN and finally settled in Riverside, IA for the past 11 years.

Terry dedicated his life’s work to the printing industry: he spent his time in press operation and sales, including a valiant attempt at his own small business, then eventually moved into national press sales and management.

Terry always enjoyed being involved in his local community groups. His lifelong love of golf led him to professional golf instruction, as well as the craft of custom making and fitting of golf clubs. He was a talented artist and spent the last ten years really honing his skills. Terry was cherished by his family, friends, workmates, customers, and residents. He loved to discuss politics and solutions to all the world’s problems. His family was his proudest accomplishment. Terry will be deeply missed by all, including his long-haired chihuahua, Teddy.

Terry is survived by his first wife, Margaret, current wife, Joni; his children, Robyn Mary Miller, Tammi Lynn Brown and Madilyn Jean (Matthew) Adams; grandchildren, Chelsey Lynn, Kyle John, Kasey Jane, and Bentley Charles. Great grandchildren Evelynn and Masyn; siblings, Carilyn Jones, and Cathie (Bill) Bishop; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Terilyn Ann; his grandson, Nathan James; his sister, Marilyn (Tom); and brother-in-law, Ted Jones and a variety of treasured dogs.

No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to fund a scholarship for a Jr. League golfer in memory of Terry. Donations can be made to: Joni Brown c/o PO Box 167, Iowa City, Iowa 52244.
