Maryann A. Michel, 85, died peacefully Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Atrium Village in Hills.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, Wednesday, January, 11, 2023 at St. Joseph Church in Hills. Father Hai Dinh will officiate. Visitation will be at the Church, Tuesday, January 10th from 4 PM to 7 PM. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Maryann Michel Memorial Fund.

Maryann was born May 7, 1937 in Coralville, the daughter of Loran Kohl and Mary Elizabeth (Hipp) Conklin. She was a 1955 graduate of University High School in Iowa City. On October 25, 1958 Maryann married Clayton Michel in Hills and have been married for 64 years.

Maryann was employed for a few years at Paris Cleaners in Iowa City, and later became a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Maryann enjoyed gardening, especially growing her beautiful flowers, and playing cards. She loved to travel as Clayton and Maryann wintered for many years in Sun City, Arizona, Golf Shores, Alabama, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Florida, and Texas.

Maryann is survived by her husband, Clayton; two sons, Brian (Cindy) Michel and Doug (Shelly) Michel, both of Riverside; five grandsons, Nathan, Adam, Logan, Jake (Jackie), and Josh; and one great grandchild expected in February.

Maryann was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Francis Conklin; and her sister, Leona Prizler.
