Marian C. McLaughlin, 94, of Iowa City died Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids.

A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, December 22nd at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Iowa City with the Reverend Joseph Sia officiating. Private interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21st at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City with a Rosary to be recited at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Regina Foundation or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Marian was born October 15, 1928 to Frank and Margaret (Rogers) Meade. She graduated from Cosgrove High School and Ottumwa Heights College. On January 12, 1957 she married Ted J. McLaughlin. She retired from the University of Iowa Hospital’s registration department in 1997.

Marian was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Mercy Guild. She enjoyed sewing and flower gardening. She was a Cubs fan and a Hawkeye fan, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Marian is survived by her children and their families: Barbara Wiese of Tiffin, Susan (Christopher) Wilhite of Albuquerque, NM, Michael (Kelley) McLaughlin of Coralville, Kevin McLaughlin of Des Moines, and Julie (Brian) Jensen of Iowa City; nine grandchildren: Noelle, Matthew, Ryan, Haley, Holly (Alex), Ashton, Luke, Keaton, and Zack; two great-grandchildren: Victoria and Charlie; sister-in-law Carol Meade Potter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted, her parents, sister Margaret “Betty” Milder, brother Eugene “Gene” Meade, brother-in-law Leslie Milder, and sister-in-law Miriam “Mimi” McLaughlin.

We would like to thank the staff of West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids for the love and devotion that they showed Marian and her family. Marian considered them her second family.
