Mitzie Lou Popejoy, age 62, passed away November 19, 2022 in Iowa City, Iowa.

Mitzie was born November 20, 1959 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Rethel Darlene (Oswalt) Popejoy.

Mitzie was always an avid reader. She found peace in caring for flowers and plants throughout her home. She enjoyed antiquing and watching the Hawkeyes. She had a caring heart and loved her family tremendously. Mitzie’s passing leaves an emptiness in our lives, but her kindness and memory will be carried on by all who love her.

Mitzie’s family include her cherished son, Caleb; siblings, Marla (Bob) Adler, Matthew (Brenda) Popejoy and Mitchell (Cindy) Popejoy; aunt, Ethel (the late Richard) Moothart; uncle, Gary (Bert) Oswalt; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends and family from her healthcare profession. Sadly, Mitzie is preceded in death by her mother and father, Darlene and Melvin; her uncle Dick; and her grandparents, Darrell and Floy.

A simple cremation has been arranged for Mitzie in accordance with her wishes. No services are planned. Please continue to keep her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
