Marjorie E. (Novak) “Marji” Stanton, age 73 of rural Tiffin died suddenly Friday, November 25, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 pm Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City where there will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 3pm Wednesday until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be shared with Grace United Methodist Church of Tiffin, Tiffin First Responders or Oxford First Responders. Marjorie Ellen Novak was born November 7, 1949, in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Louis L. and Ulana E. (Post) Novak. She attended Clear Creek Schools graduating with the Class of 1968 from Clear Creek High School. Following graduation, she attended cosmetology school and Kirkwood Community College. She started working at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office which began a long career, from 1973-2008, that she thoroughly enjoyed working with the best coworkers and sheriffs. She married David M. Stanton October 31, 1981, in North Liberty.
In her youth she was involved in 4-H, this continued into adulthood as a leader and judge. She enjoyed her membership in the Oxford American Legion Auxiliary, traveling with David and other family and friends, cooking, gardening, and playing the slots!

Her family includes her husband, David; her brother and his wife, John and Cecile Novak; their children her nieces, Theresa, Jessica and Margaret, one great-nephew, Damian; David’s siblings, Robert and Jill Stanton and Kathy and Joe Render; and their children, Katie Bryant (Thom), Matt Render and Tad Render (Christine).

Marji was preceded in death by her parents, and David’s parents, George and Sally Stanton.
