DEATH OF FORMER RESIDENT

John T. Calkins, of Chicago, Dies at Advanced Age and is Buried Here.

At 2:30 this afternoon was held the funeral services of the late John T. Calkins, from the home of Guy S. Calkins, his death having occurred suddenly Thursday at Chicago. The deceased was about 80 years old. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Kate Blunt, Schofield, Wis., and Charlotte Calkins of Chicago.

Mr. Calkins lived in this city at one time and conducted a photograph gallery, but removed to Chicago about 1870. Two years ago occurred the death of Mrs. Calkins, who was buried here, and today the husband was laid by her side. The remains were brought here by Guy Calkins, a nephew of the deceased. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Nathaniel Pye of the Methodist church, and they were attended by Iowa City relatives and a few of his old acquaintances.
