Raymond Forest Cline, Sr. passed away on October 11, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

The family is hosting a time for friends and family to gather and celebrate Raymond’s life on November 5th from 1pm-3pm at First Assembly of God church, 1602 E Washington in Washington, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to UNleashed Animal Shelter in Keota, IA.

Raymond Forest Cline was born to Velma (Yeoman) and Forest Cline on August 11, 1947 in Fairfield, IA. He grew up in West Chester and Washington. In 1967, he enlisted in the Army and fought in Viet Nam. He was medically discharged in 1969.

On returning home he married Diana Dunbar on May 22nd, 1970. They had three children, Michael, Velma, and Raymond, Jr.

Raymond was a factory worker for 42 years, first for Perfex/Modine in Washington, IA and later for Heatilator in Mt. Pleasant, retiring in 2008. In 2013, he and Diana moved to Iowa City, Iowa, then to Cedar Rapids in 2022.

Raymond enjoyed working with his hands creating and making different projects for his family using woodworking, wood burning, painting, etc. He was always excited to volunteer with his fellow veterans at the VA Hospital and Clinics.

Raymond will be best remembered for being witty, ornery, loving, hard working, animal loving family man.

Raymond is survived by his wife Diana; his children Michael Dunbar of Cedar Rapids, IA, Velma (Ron) Hopping of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Raymond Cline Jr (Jennifer) of Iowa City, IA; his grandchildren Jacob (Breanna) Berry of Ottumwa, Mackenzie Berry of Cedar Rapids, Timothy Cline of Iowa City, Johnathon Cline of Iowa City and Jasmine Bender of Iowa City; great grandchildren Dawson Berry, Katie Berry, Wyatt Berry; siblings Harold Cline of Washington IA, Rodger (Sue) Cline of Iowa City, Esther Evans of Washington, IA; and his special pet Lacey.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; sister Flora May Zanger; grandchildren Velma Fern Cline and Shilah Renee Cline; nephew Robert Evans; and niece Melinda Chance
