Hung-Fa Wu (Peter) 鄔洪法 (阿法) passed away unexpectedly at 5:00 PM on September 29, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics at 64-years of age.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday October 5th, 2022 at 5:30 PM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City, Iowa, where his family will greet friends before the service from 4:00 to 5:30 PM. The burial will be held in Flushing Cemetery in Queens, New York at a later date.

Hung-Fa was born in Taiwan, where he was raised by his parents, Ching-Yo and Langshun-Wang Wu. He came to the US to pursue his American dream at the beginning of his 20s and met Tzuei-Chuan Wu, who he married and began his own family in Flushing, New York. Together, they raised three children, Kevin, Samantha and Amanda. For more than 40 years, he worked as the head chef in many Chinese restaurants in New York City, and relocated to Cedar Rapids when he saw the opportunity to open his own restaurant business in 2005. He was a master chef in culinary art of Chinese cuisines and owned several successful restaurants before the pandemic. Like all others, his business and life were changed drastically due to the rage of the pandemic and everything that came with it.

Hung-Fa was a dedicated Father, husband, brother, and son. He was a resilient man to all aspects of life around him even though he was an immigrant to a country with no language and cultural experience. He valued his family both immediate and extended by loving and caring for them despite all the life struggles he faced. He often made sacrifices protecting his values and morals, a man behind the scenes. He dedicated his entire life to loving and caring for his family, putting his family members before himself. He will be greatly missed by all his family members and friends both near and far.

Hung-Fa was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Surviving are his children Kevin Wu of Iowa City, IA, Samantha Wu of Iowa City, IA, Amanda Wu of New York City, NY, his grandchildren, Wesley Wu, William Wu, Owen Yu, his brother Hung-Kuo Wu of Princeton, NJ, and all his extended family members in Taiwan.
