John Paul Wentz, 84, a lifelong farmer in the Johnson County area, died June 16 at a Muscatine nursing home following a sudden illness.

Services were held at 10 a.m. June 19 at the Barker Funeral Home in West Branch with burial at Oakland cemetery, Iowa City. The Rev. Max E. Paige officiating.

Mr. Wentz was born in Johnson county, Nov. 15, 1888 to Jacob and Elizabeth Paulus Wentz and he was married to Julia Marion Shrader in 1912 at Austin, Minn.

Survivors include two sons, John of West Branch and Jacob of Riverside, Calif., and six grandchildren.
