Katie Beasley, 97, died Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Lantern Park Specialty Care In Coralville.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 3rd, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Lensing’s Oak Hill Funeral Service, 210 Holiday Road in Coralville. Graveside services will begin at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Instead of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to the Katie Beasley Memorial Fund.

Amanda Kate “Katie” Jenkins was born December 17, 1924 in Mississippi, the daughter of Arthur and Bonnie (Kelly) Jenkins. She was raised and graduated from high school in Carthage, Mississippi. After meeting Joe De Armond, Katie moved to Iowa and Joe and Katie were married on May 16, 1947. They made their home in Coralville, Iowa and had one son Arthur Joseph “Art”. Joe died in on January 18, 1953.

Katie met and later married Bruce L. Beasley on December 17, 1955. The couple lived in Coralville – later moving to Iowa City. She and Bruce had one son, Bruce Daniel. Her 2nd husband Bruce died December 13, 2008.

Katie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Iowa City and very much enjoyed flowers, gardening and crocheting. Her love for her family rose above all else.

Survivors include her sons, Art and his wife Eileen De Armond of North Liberty and Bruce Beasley of Clinton, Iowa; grandchildren, Michelle Baumgartner (Bill) of Beaumont, California, Maureen De Armond of Des Moines, Iowa, Melanie De Armond of Los Angeles, California, Katelynn Beasley and Danny Beasley, both of Clinton; great-granddaughters, Gabrielle Brooks of Des Moines, Iowa, Maya Baumgartner of Beaumont, California and Khiyah Wagner of Clinton, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her parents, both husbands, a brother Carlton Jenkins, a half-brother, step-brother, a sister-in-law, Doris Jenkins, a daughter-in-law, Jane Beasley and a niece Teresa O’Neil.
