Ernest Theodore “Ted” Klopp, 83, of Iowa City passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022, at his home in Iowa City with his wife by his side.

Per Ted’s request, no formal services will occur at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed toward the Friends of the Animal Center Foundation.

Ted was born on July 22, 1939, in Havre, Montana, the son of Kurt and Lillian (Reckert) Klopp. Growing up, they moved around the country as his father was a minister.

In 1963, Ted married Marlene Park and recently they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.

After many years in the LeMars Community School District, Ted retired and moved to Iowa City. There Ted and Marlene volunteered together for many organizations through RVSP but his number 1 priority was his family.

Ted is survived by his wife Marlene; children, A.J. (Jo) Klopp of Iowa City and Heidi (Derek) Nestor of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Katie Klopp, Alex Klopp, Dawson Nestor, and Davis Nestor and his sister Lillian Klopp Olson and her husband Jack of Minneapolis, MN. He was also survived by numerous extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kurt and Lillian Klopp and his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Park.
