Danny Gene Walker died peacefully at his home Friday, June 3, 2022 following a long illness.

He was born February 15, 1940, in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Richard L. and Mary (Elder) Walker. Dan attended the Waterloo schools, graduating in 1959 from West High School. Following graduation, he joined the Navy. After his discharge from the service, he hitch hiked around the world and lived in Australia for two years.

Danny was employed by the US Post office for 30 years--delivering mail to the residents and Milk bones to their dogs. He retired in 1997.

He married Linda Villhauer Henry in Iowa City on April 8, 1989.

Per his request Dan will be cremated. He never liked the limelight and has chosen not to have a service. Please celebrate Dan in your own way or with a contribution to the Iowa City Animal Shelter.

He is survived by his wife, Linda and daughter Angie (David) Davis; his sister, Mary Sue (Robert) Parkhurst of Washburn; brother, Mike of Cedar Falls, sister-in-law Pat Walker of Orient, Ohio and brothers-in-law Lou (Marcy) Villhauer of Iowa City and Kalvin (Jennifer) Villhauer of West Branch and his sheltie, Miz Ruby. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Preceding him were his parents, brother Richard, grandson Marcus and niece Darcie.
