Tom Mougin, 52, of Davenport and formerly of Cosgrove, ended his battle with cancer on his own terms, with dignity and grace, Friday, June 3, 2022 at UIHC.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 2 PM to 5 PM at the St. Peter’s Parish Hall. Funeral Services to celebrate Tom’s life will be held at 10 AM, Monday, June 13, 2022 at St. Peter’s Church in Cosgrove, IA. Father Robert Cloos will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to langlandbealight.org (The Langland Family Be A Light Foundation). This foundation was created after Tom’s niece passed away and is used to provide scholarships to Liberty High Students and give donations to other various charities. We will use the donations to Be A Light to focus on brain cancer research.

Tom was born December 28, 1969 in Iowa City, the son of Frank and Vivian (Meka) Mougin. He was a graduate of Clear Creek High School and a graduate of the University of Iowa X-Ray Program, specializing in the MRI.

On June 6, 1992 Tom married Kelli Niebaum at Gloria Dei Church in Iowa City.

Tom and his family lived in Davenport, where he co-owned Midwest Radiologic Relief and worked at various MRI positions.
He was an avid Hawkeye fan and loved time spent biking, skiing, drinking craft beer, and playing bags. Tom was a handyman, that was always a hardworker whether it was crafting a porch for the backyard or helping a friend with their wiring. Throughout it all he brought so much humor and wisdom to the world around him. He was a social butterfly that could work his way into any conversation. Most importantly, Tom was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all those he touched.

Tom is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kelli and their sons, Logan and Grant; his mother, Vivian; four siblings, Dee (Wayne) Simon, Pat (Brenda) Mougin, Denny (Denise) Mougin, Bryan (Pam) Mougin; his godmother, Mary Ann Walters; his in-laws, Roger and Judy Niebaum; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Traci Langland and David and Crystal Niebaum; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grand-nephew, and extended family.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Frank; nephew, Ryan Mougin; his niece, Brooke Langland along with aunts and uncles including: Jean, Darlene, Leona, Ed, Vic, Harold, Frank, and Whitey.

The family also wishes to extend their appreciation to all the wonderful caregivers in Palliative Care at UIHC.
