Judith Marie “Judy” Swartzendruber, 78, died peacefully Friday, May 27, 2022 at UIHC.

A family committal service will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org.

Judy was born November 14, 1943 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Ira and Adeline (Sonju) Brooks. On February 10, 1964 Judy married Ronald Swartzendruber in Kirksville, MO.

Judy was raised and lived many years in Coralville. From 1964 to 1991 Ron served in the military and the family resided in many different communities. Upon retirement from the military they made Iowa City their home until 2009 and then moved to Lone Tree.

Judy love to read, cook, and knit, but most important to her was the time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Judy is survived by her two children, Michael Swartzendruber of Roseville, CA. and Cindy Tomas (Todd Zeman) of Lone Tree; grandchildren, Jacob, Alyssa (fiancé, Dajon) and Adrayene; great grandchildren, Aaliyah and D’Andre; her sister, Vicki Berens of Marietta, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jane Gingerich of Riverside, IA, Gladys Mast of Gresham, OR, Robert (Doris) Swartzendruber of Iowa City, LaVonne Swartzendruber of Reno, NV, Glenn (Vicky) Swartzendruber of Bettendorf, IA, and Carol Campion of West Branch, IA; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ron; her siblings, Ron Brooks and Orla Vadnais; her parents-in-law, Emmanuel and Lena Miller; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom Vadnais, Mary and Frank Hochstetler, Joe Gingerich, Harold Swartzendruber, Moses Mast, Richard Swartzendruber, Dorothy and Harold Krebs, and Billy Campion.
