Charles F. Kleinmeyer, 80, of Iowa City, passed away on May 14, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

Charlie was born on July 31, 1941 in Marengo, Iowa to Adolph and Veda (Fredrickson) Kleinmeyer.
After graduating from Oxford High School, Charlie worked as a car salesman at Noll Motors downtown for many years. He was an exemplary artist and sign painter; owning Charlie’s Signs for over 25 years before retiring. His talent has graced many businesses throughout Iowa City and surrounding areas.

Charlie wore many hats throughout his life. He enjoyed living a simple life and visiting with friends in his shop or on his porch. However, taking care of family and extended family was one of his proudest accomplishments. He will be deeply missed.

Charlie is survived by his two sons: Jeff of North Liberty and Monte (Laura) of California; grandchildren: Asia (Trent) Hekel of Cedar Rapids and Sidney, Zeth and Trulie Kleinmeyer all of California; great grandson, Tavin Hekel; brothers: Willard Kleinmeyer of Florida and Kenny Kleinmeyer of Cedar Rapids and his sister, Linda Herring of Tiffin. He was preceded in death by his parents and many siblings.

Per Charlie’s request, cremation has been accorded and no formal services will be held at this time.
