After a long life filled with joy and love it is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Olga Sanchez Perez on 2/08/2022 at the age of 63 after a courageous battle. She was born on January 20th 1959 in Elvia-Pharr, Texas.
Olga grew up in Pharr, Texas on a farm surrounded by her loving parents and 7 siblings. Olga is the youngest daughter of Pablo Sanchez and Virginia Botello. Her passion was the outdoors and Antique picking. She was treasured by her family and friends for her generosity, community service, and voracious appetite for learning. She was also known for her great love of animals, especially dogs and for her adventurous spirit. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered by her great love and devotion to them. Olga leaves behind countless friends who have been enlightened by her all-too-short life but deep commitment to get all she could out of her time with us. Although tiny in body, her spirit was powerful and she leaves a lasting legacy that will inspire all who knew her for years to come. Although her adventures life Olga was first and foremost dedicated and passionate about being the best Mom possible to her loving children. Olga called everyone daily and made certain they were on track with reminders of important events within their lives. Olga loved to cook and always prepared fantastic traditional Mexican meals. We will miss her empanadas, tacos and rice platters. She will be greatly missed by her family and especially her 5 children: Nancy, Michael, Sylvia, Carlos, Selena and, her 12 grandchildren: Alexandria, Jorge, Markous, Lydia, Wendy, Jessica, Michael, Kayla, Alicia, Edin, Melissa and Anthony.
Olga, mom, grandma you are gone but thank you for all the sweet things you have left behind- in my home- in my house and in my heart. We will never forget you.
Olga is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Pablo and Virginia. Please continue to keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.
There will be a service for those who would like to say their last goodbye to Olga on Sunday, February 13th, from 9-12 pm. Visitation will be held at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation (2720 Muscatine Ave., Iowa City)
