Rick L. Noel, 64, of Riverside, IA, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Jefferson County Health Center surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 12, 2021. Family will greet guests prior to the service from 10 – 11:30 a.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will take place at Lone Tree Cemetery. Following the committal service at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed toward the Noel family in care of Margo Noel.
Rick was born on March 29, 1957 in Iowa City, the son of Keith and Mary (York) Noel. Rick was raised in Iowa City and graduated from West High School. For over 30 years, Rick worked for the University of Iowa, retiring in 2015.
On September 16, 1978, Rick married Bonnie Sue Ham. Rick and Bonnie had two children, Jennifer and Brian. Bonnie passed away on February 27, 2011. Rick met Margo Shannon in 2011 and on January 1, 2014, the two were married in Las Vegas, NV.
Rick was a tinkerer. He loved to fix things. He enjoyed gardening, fishing for trout, gambling and cheering on the Hawkeyes. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play softball and football for the Solon Spartans.
Rick is survived by his wife, Margo; his children, Jennifer (Scott) Jensen and Brian Noel; grandchildren, Kendall, Kyler, and Maddox Jensen; stepchildren, Jenika and Mikel Shannon; siblings, Gary (Nancy) Noel, Mike (Rhonda) Noel, Pat (Lucy) Noel, David “Randy” (Deb) Noel and Greg Noel. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, and his loving companion Doodles.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Mary Noel and his wife, Bonnie (Ham) Noel.
