Owen Rehnblom, born April 16, 1944 in Stratford, Iowa to Ivan and Florence (Hammitt) Rehnblom, passed away October 26, 2021 at Mercy Hospital.

Owen grew up on a farm in rural Hamilton County in Northwest Iowa with his parents and older sister, where he survived polio thanks to the dedication of his mother. After graduation he joined the US Navy. Owen returned home and attended junior college and later transferred to the University of Iowa where his love for the Iowa Hawkeyes started and never ended. Owen ran a local bar in Iowa City where he honed his skill of charm and perfected his salesmanship that would serve him well later in life as he became a salesman for various companies. Owen married Pat Enright in 1984 helping in raising her daughter Michelle until Pat passed away in 1990, Owen stayed connected with Michelle throughout the remainder of his life and they shared a love of her mother to the end. Owen reunited with his college friend, Pat Tenborg in 1991 and they enjoyed life with her two daughters, Kari and Kasi. Owen and Pat were united in marriage in 2001 and spent another 20 years together as business owners, frequent travelers, avid Iowa Hawkeye fans, and a genuine life-loving pair.

Owen was a natural storyteller and could pull you in to any story with his charismatic nature – he may even catch you listening a time or two. Never one to turn down a good time or a solid captain and coke, especially at a tailgate where he would toast his beloved Hawks, win or lose! Owen was a skilled card player who was often found playing bridge or pinochle to pass the time with friends and family where laughter was always in abundance. Owen never missed an opportunity to love life and was constantly the life of the party. More so, Owen was a loving, caring, and thoughtful man that spent his life looking after the ones he loved the most, including his little buddies – Zeus, Bailey and Hershey.

Owen will be remembered by all that had the chance to know him, his whimsy smile and his huge heart – until the walls and rafters’ ring!

A celebration of life will be held Sunday October 31, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the Swisher American Legion, 68 3rd St SE, Swisher, IA 52338 with military honors performed at the park next door at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to G.I.V.E Foundation.

Owen is survived by his wife Pat Rehnblom; daughters Michelle Blackford (Jason), Kari Tenborg and Kasi Tenborg Carroll (Joe); sister Anne Rowe (Larry) and his little buddy Hershey.
