Phyllis Ann Vesely, age 91, passed away October 17, 2021 in Iowa City, Iowa.

Phyllis’ family will receive guests at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service (2720 Muscatine Ave., Iowa City) on Saturday, October 23, from 10-12 pm. Phyllis will then be laid to rest with a graveside service at 12:30 pm at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.

Phyllis, was born February 17, 1930 in Iowa City, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Vesely. Phyllis, a lifelong Iowa City resident, was Tiffin High School graduate before attending Iowa City Commercial College. Phyllis spent her life working as a clerk in the radiology department at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Phyllis was a kind and generous person. She loved to make kolaches and give them to her neighbors and friends. She used to help the elderly through various service programs. Phyllis loved flowers and gardening. When she wasn’t in her garden, she was cheering on the Hawkeyes. She loved the holiday’s, especially Christmas, where she exuded the holiday spirit through the gift of home baked goodies that she gave to her family and neighbors. She was a kind soul and will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving Phyllis are her nieces and nephews, Donald Vesely, Kendra Vesely, Linda Corso, Ted Vesely and Janet Singleman; and great nieces and nephews. Sadly, Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna; brothers, Floyd (Ruby) Vesely, Harold (Dorothy) Vesely and Kenneth (Dolores) Vesely; sister, Maxine Vesely; and nephew, Robert Vesely.

Memorial contributions are suggested to either the First United Methodist Church or Iowa City Hospice.
