A Pioneer’s Death

Mrs. Sarah Wren, of West Branch, died at the home of her son, Lemuel, at Saturday last. Mrs. Wren was one of the oldest of the first comers of that body of emigrants, called “Friends,” who came from Pennsylvania in the early days of Iowa’s history. In company with her husband she crossed the Mississippi and pushed into the then new country. With him she toiled and helped to make a home on the fertile prairie of the Quaker community. To the couple were born seven children, all of whom are now living to mourn the loss of a loving mother. The lady was a member of the Friend’s church and has been an active Christian for many years. She was eighty nine years old and in her death the Friends church at West Branch lose one of its founders. The funeral will occur tomorrow at noon.
