Luz María “Lucha” Dominguez-Ayala, 64, died peacefully Thursday, June 3, 2021 surrounded by her loving family at home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.

Luz Maria was born October 2, 1956 in La Piedad Michoacán, Mexico, the daughter of Juana Ayala and Aurelio Domínguez.

Luz Maria was preceded in death by her parents Juana Ayala Espinosa, Aurelio Dominguez Alatorre and her brothers Juan and Aurelio Dominguez Ayala.

Survivors include her sisters Alicia, Teresa, Bertha, Juana “Chata”, Guadalupe “Lupita”, Martha and Amalia “May” her daughter, Ofelia Zepeda of Iowa City; five grandchildren Karen Ayala, Jaime Ayala, Geraldine Gutierrez, Brianna Gutierrez, Mia Paredes and two great grandchildren Franklin Ayala and Vianeli Ayala.
