Please wear your mask and practice social distancing. Thank you.

On America’s birthday, July 4th, 1930, Donna was born in Iowa City, Iowa to William and Geneva Pohler. She married her high school sweetheart, Don Winter, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City on October 18th, 1950. Don and Donna had 5 children: Deborah, David, Diana, Douglas and Daniel.

Donna was a dedicated employee at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, working for the Department of Orthopedics for 30 years until her retirement in 1992. Donna celebrated her retirement day by adopting her beloved Yorkshire terrier, BJ. During retirement, Donna enjoyed traveling on road trips with Don, especially to warmer climates, and to Babe Ruth youth baseball tournaments, where Don served as a coach and commissioner for many years.

Donna had a heart of gold, a contagious giggle and a fiery independent spirit. She loved to laugh and tease with everyone, but she was also a great listener. She cared for her family deeply and wanted everyone to be happy. She herself seemed the happiest when surrounded by family, always listening intently to the lively conversations when the big family got together for holidays and, of course, July 4th birthday celebrations.

The family would like to thank Lantern Park and Care Initiatives staff for their compassionate care of Donna especially during her final weeks.

Donna is survived by 4 children, Deb (Patrick) Seemuth, Diana Winter (Jeff Murrah), Doug Winter and Dan (Susan) Winter; 4 grandchildren: Devin (Luke) Sodergren, Taylor (Ian) Campbell, Jordan Winter (Braden Lehman) and Joseph Winter (Madalyn Wheeler); and 3 great-grandchildren: Blake and Sloane Campbell and Oliver Winter.

Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Don, her son David and her son-in-law Patrick.

Thank you Mom for creating countless amazing memories full of your laughter and your love!
