Virginia Mary Norris, 78, of Washington, Iowa passed away Friday, June 24, 2005 at the Washington Care Center.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30PM at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton, Iowa with Rev. Rose Blank and Rev. Ed Morgan officiating. The family will greet friends after 12:30PM at the church. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Washington Care Center, Washington, Iowa or Wesley United Methodist Church Music Dept., Vinton, Iowa.

Virginia was born December 2, 1926 in Chariton, Iowa, the daughter of William John and Marie Hills Norris. She was a graduate of Vinton High School and had attended Cornell College, where she received a music scholarship, and the Iowa State Teachers College.

Music was an important part of Virginia’s life. She enjoyed many types of music including the hymns, the classics and popular songs of her era.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Washington Care Center for the kindness and understanding to Virginia. She thought of you all as friends and family during her residence at the care center.

Virginia is survived by her sister, Barbara Chambers of Iowa City and her nephew David Chambers of Blacksburg, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her nephew, John Chambers.
