Norma Irene Westphal, 90, of Iowa City, died Saturday, July 25, 2020, at her home of an apparent heart attack.

Norma Irene Meyer was born March 25, 1930 in Spring Valley, MN the daughter of Herbert and Gaynol (Bauer) Meyer. She attended schools in Spring Valley graduating with the class of 1949 from Spring Valley High School. On June 28, 1950 she married Darold F. Westphal in Spring Valley. For a number of years, she worked as an administrative assistant for several law firms in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. The family moved to Iowa City in 1967 where she worked for the Iowa Law Review.

Her family includes her son and his wife, Brian and Lynne Westphal; grandson, Adam Westphal; and her siblings, Gloria Richardson (Don), Phyllis Hendrikson (Percy), Merlin Meyer (Lori) and Wendell Meyer.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Darold; and brother, Loren Meyer.
