Joyce Ellen Eland, 71, of Solon, passed away Monday, May 18, 2020 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
The family will host a public “rolling visitation” Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Grace Community Church, 2707 Dubuque Street NE in North Liberty. Friends will be asked to remain in their cars and to observe social distancing guidelines. Please follow the directions in the church parking lot. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City is handling arrangements.
Funeral services will be private - with private burial in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery in Oakville, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to Apostolic Christian Church in North Liberty, Visiting Nurse Association of Johnson County or Casa Vida y Esperanza (CVE) in Magdalena de Kino, Mexico.
Born in Burlington, Iowa March 25, 1949 to Robert and Clara (Banwart) Frank, Joyce grew up in Oakville, Iowa. She graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1967. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in nursing from The University of Iowa, graduating in 1971.
She was married to Bradley Eland January 24, 1970 at her parents’ home in Oakville.
Joyce was a devoted wife, daughter, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her, compassion, servant heart and excellence. She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and was an active and integral member of the Iowa City Apostolic Christian Church. She dedicated most of her professional life to the Visiting Nurse Association, retiring after 42 years in 2018. Her love for her Savior and others was demonstrated in her many acts of service and encouraging words. Her gifts of hospitality and compassion touched all in her life. Joyce worked hard and loved well.
Joyce is survived by her husband Brad; four children, Christopher Eland of Solon, IA,
Wendy Weyrick (Ben) of Bettendorf, IA, Lisa DuBrava (Keith) of Iowa City, IA
and Ryan Eland (Beverly) of Albuquerque, NM; 11 grandchildren; three brothers, Dale Frank (Tina) of Oakville, Lynn Frank (Priscilla) of Wichita, KS, Bruce Frank (Bonita) of Hoopeston, IL and many nieces and nephewsJoyce was preceded in death by her parents.
