16 Nov 1918 – YOUNG TEACHER DIES OF PNEUMONIA
Miss Velma Bolon died at one o’clock today after little more than a week’s illness which turned in its last stages to pneumonia. She was a teacher at Sharon Center and came to her home here the 8th of November feeling ill but not at all worried about her feeling sick. Within a few days, however, her condition became alarming. Miss Bolon was the elder daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Wilber Bolon of 302 Muscatine avenue. She is survived by her bereaved parents and a younger sister Marjorie. She was twenty-four years of age and thus her life was cut short in all the bright promise of lovely young womanhood.
