AN OBITUARY OF MRS. TOBIAS YODER
Mary Hochstetler was born near Summit Mills, PA, Sept 27, 1827, and died Dec 9, 1918, aged 91 years, 2 months and 12 days. The cause of her death was old age. She was united in marriage in 1848 to Tobias Yoder, who preceded her in death June 14, 1906. To this union were born eight children, four of whom preceded her in death as follows: Susan, Anna, Gideon, and Jonas, all of who died of diphtheria in August 1862, near Accident, Md. And the four surviving are Noah, of Iowa City, Henry and Mahlon of Kalona, Iowa and Lewis of Portland, Oregon. Also one brother, John Hochstetler of Maxwell, Ia. All were present at the funeral except Lewis of Portland and John Hochstetler of Maxwell.

She also leaves nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She united with the Amish Mennonite church in her early life and remained faithful until death, her desire for some time has been to depart from this life to life eternal.
Funeral services were held on the 11th from the lower Deer Creek church, conducted by David D. Miller and S.C. Yoder, burial at nearby cemetery.

The family are grateful for the kindness of friends.
