DR. WILLIAM SUITS HOSFORD DIES; VICTIM OF DREAD PNEUMONIA
Dr. William Suits Hosford died at 9 o’clock last night at his home on east College Street after a short illness with pneumonia, which was a complication of the Spanish Influenza. The sudden death of the well-known Iowa Cityan comes as a distinct shock to his large circle of friends.

He leaves his wife, Antoinette Morrow Hosford, to mourn his sad death. Dr. Hosford was born in Davenport, Iowa, June 29, 1862. He attended the public schools of that city and spent one year at Lake Forest Academy. He came to the state university in 1881 and received his B.A. degree in 1883. In 1884 the deceased entered the medical college of the university but was compelled to give up his professional course on account of poor health. He returned to the university in 1890 after a short business career and took up the study of dentistry, receiving his D.D.S. degree in 1892. In 1897 Dr. Hosford was appointed dean of the dentistry college and remained in this capacity until 1913 when he resigned the deanship to devote his full time to a widespread and ever increasing private dental practice. As a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, Dr. Hosford was an ever active and important worker. In the city the genial dentist was admired and beloved by all who knew him for his sincerity and charming personality, and in his death the community loses of its most prominent citizens as well as an able professional man.

The funeral services will be private and will be conducted by the rev. Paul B. James of the Trinity Episcopal church, at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at the home, 505 College Hill.
