HELEN BENNISON DIED YESTERDAY
Almost without warning death took one of Iowa City’s most popular young ladies when Miss Helen Bennison, daughter of Mr. & Mrs June Bennison, died at the family home on south Dodge street Sunday at 12:30 after only two days illness from pleural pneumonia. She was stricken Friday morning, after coming down to her father’s place of business to perform her regular duties as his assistant and after returning home in the course of the morning the progress of the disease was rapid.in spite of all that the best medical care could do to save her.

Helen Collins Bennison was twenty-three years of age and had lived most of her life in Iowa City. She was a graduate of the Iowa City high school and was a student three in the college of liberal arts of the state university. She also attended the St. Clair School for girls in Wisconsin. She was of a sunny, friendly nature and made friends everywhere she went. She loved music and for many years was organist of the Methodist Sunday school. She was active in social circles, always helpful and interested in the happiness of others, and her death was a great shock to hundreds of friends who have to depend on her. During the school year 1915 – 16 she was society reporter on the Daily Citizen while continuing her university studies and impressed everyone by her talent for newspaper work. After that she went to the St. Clair School for a number of months and later entered her father’s department store as office assistant where she has been for the last year or two. She was apparently the picture of good health and radiated a cheerfulness and good will that will cause her to be long remembered in the community.

The funeral service will be held at the residence Tuesday at 4 pm conducted by Rev. S. E. Ellis, of the Methodist Church and friends are invited.
