Mary Jo Eicher, 74, of 2345 Jessup Circle died Friday, May 6, 2005 of complications from ALS.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Judy Gingerich officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00p.m. at Lensing Funeral Service, Iowa City, and after 9:30 AM Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Mary Jo Eicher to the University of Iowa Foundation for the benefit of the School of Art and Art History.

Mary Jo was born March 27, 1931 in Menominee, Michigan, the daughter of John L. and Alice McClelland Myers. She was a graduate of the University of Iowa.

Mary Jo was well known in the Iowa City business community. She and her former husband established Eicher Florist and Greenhouse, which had locations on Kirkwood Avenue and downtown. Through the years Mary Jo owned and operated Selected Collections boutique, the Amelia Earhart Deli, and The Central nightclub. She was an accomplished artist. She was a member of the University of Iowa Presidents Club and Omicron Delta Kappa honor society.

Mary Jo is survived by her seven children; Carol Eicher of New York, New York, Charles Eicher of Iowa City, Susan Eicher of Eugene, Oregon, Janet Eicher of Seattle, Oregon, Mary Cross of Cary, North Carolina, Deborah Campbell of Orlando, Florida; Richard Eicher of North Liberty; four grandchildren; two sisters, Marylin Beranek of Omaha, Nebraska and Darlene Myers of Chesterfield, Virginia; and her former husband, Frank Eicher of Ft. Myers, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard.
