Jean C. “Jeannie” Ebert, 73 of Coralville died Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at Superior Care Respite House in Iowa City from complications from a long and courageous battle with dementia.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, December 9th. at the Coralville United Methodist Church, where there will be a time of visitation on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm. Burial will be at a later date at the Unity Cemetery in rural Johnson County. Memorial donations can be made in her memory to Eastern Iowa Alzheimer’s Association or to the Coralville United Methodist Church. Jean "Jeannie" Conner Ebert was born May 28, 1946, in Iowa City the daughter of Stephen and Lola Conner. She grew up in the Newport Township area of Johnson County, Iowa, attending St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School and later Solon High School. Jeannie found her true love with Karl Ebert in 2000 with them being married in Key West, Florida in 2002.
Jeannie was a special soul, she loved animals, the outdoors, camping, kayaking, gardening, home remodeling, antiquing, flea markets, rock concerts, Hull and McCoy pottery, traveling the world and reading. Jeannie had a major in Journalism and was a published poet and a free-lance writer. For nearly forty years she worked for University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics retiring as search coordinator for the bone marrow donor program. But most important to Jeannie was her family!
Her family includes her husband, Karl Ebert; her three sons who she was very blessed by and proud of, Chris (Paula) Harapat of Salina, KS, Tim (Bonnie Riggan) Harapat of IC, Matt (Sonja) Harapat of Ainsworth; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; her twin sister, Jan (Loyd) Koopman; sister-in-law Connie Conner; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded by her parents, brothers, Jim Conner and Ron Conner.A very sincere thank you to Superior Care Respite Home, Countryview Estates for their loving care over the last few years. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Jeannie’s family and her services.
