Lura M. Stagg, age 105 of Iowa City, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at the Iowa City Rehab and Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 6, 2005, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in her memory. Lura Marie Hartsock Stagg was born January 30, 1900,in rural Johnson County, Iowa the daughter of William and Lulu (Oldaker) Hartsock. She graduated from Iowa City City High School at the age of 16 in the year of 1916. Lura married Ray Stagg January 1, 1920. He died on November 18, 1966. She has lived her entire life in the Cedar and Johnson County area.

She was a member of the Golden Age Club, presently the oldest resident of Johnson County; she enjoyed playing cards, reading, and playing her piano and organ.

Her family includes her children, Margaret Seebeck of Bennett, IA, Marilyn Rouner of Iowa City, Bill Stagg of Augusta, GA, Kathleen Murray and her husband, Tom of Berryville, AR, Mattie Lou Lewis and her husband, Gordon of Lynnville, IA, Leslie Stagg of Cedar Rapids, Donald Stagg and his wife, Mary of Walford, IA, Kay Blinks of Marion, Carol Neitderhisar and her husband, Daryl Stagg and his wife, Nancy of Iowa City; 38 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Lura was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ray; four children, Elsie Sward, Ruth Beranek, Keith Stagg, and Howard Stagg, 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
