Memorials may be directed to the Donna Van Bibber Memorial Fund.

Born April 27, 1947 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of William and Elsie (Amlong) Crandall, Donna grew up in the Coralville area. She graduated from City High School in Iowa City in 1966.

Donna’s primary focus was raising her children but in later years she enjoyed working at the local Bruegger’s Bagels locations. She was recognized as the “Bagel Lady” still to this day after many years of being retired. She may not know your name, but she would recognize her regulars by the bagels they would order.

She married John D. Van Bibber June 6, 1992 in Iowa City.

Donna loved spending time with her Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren. Cooking and baking were one of the things she liked to do with them, often telling stories of the past. She also enjoyed camping with John and her family and spent many falls driving “up north” to see the colors of fall and going to craft shows and flea markets that were going on.

Donna spent many hours crocheting afghans and hot pads and doilies. She enjoys teaching her skills to her nieces and friends. Quilting also was a passion for her. She spent many hours designing quilts for family. She would go to the Quilt show in Kalona and learn new designs and stitches to try. She would share her love of quilting with her family and friends.

Dirt Track racing was also an activity that Donna enjoyed as a family. From early on when her father raced to watching her sons and grandsons racing at the local tracks in West Liberty and Columbus Junction, Donna could be seen in the stands or the pits, cheering them on. She even took a couple of opportunities to drive in the Powder Puff races. She would tell of her experiences to anyone who would listen and strongly encourage them to try it if they ever had the chance.

Survivors include her husband John; sons, Mike Jondle (Lesley) of Iowa City and Bob Harding (Sheila) of West Branch; Step-daughter, Pam Maxwell (Curtis) of Gibson, step-sons, John M. Van Bibber of San Angelo, Texas and Steve Van Bibber of Ballinger, Texas; sisters, Barb Prosser and Betty Bream (Bob), all of Coralville.

Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jesse Jondle (Sarah), James Jondle, Ashley Reynolds (Billy Ray), Tristan Roehrig, Austin Roehrig, August Joe, Marcus Joe, Emerald Joe, Shonay Joe, Christopher Harding, Ashley Troge, Christina Almond, Ashia Maxwell, Nicky Van Bibber, Shelby Van Bibber and Kelsey Anderson and great-grandchildren; Lilah Almond, Elanor Jondle, Olivia Jondle, Roselyn Jondle, Tyronne Harding, Prada Beam, and Kayden Lapoint. Nieces Brittani Koeppen (Adam) of North Liberty, Brenna Prosser (Trevor) of North Liberty, Bailea Robertson (Tyler) of Iowa City, Amy Lyman (Rich) of Des Moines and Nephews Andy Bream (Shauna) of Urbandale and Dustyn Prosser of North Liberty.
