Gertrude Lenz Rites Observed

Funeral Services for Lone Tree Woman Conducted Tuesday Afternoon.

Lone Tree – Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Lenz, whose death occurred at the home of her son, F. H. Lenz, Sunday, were conducted at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the Reformed church in Lone Tree by the Rev. Marcus Bach. Burial was in the Lone Tree cemetery. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Albert Lenz, Vernon Lenz, Raymond Lenz, Ralph Lenz, Ernest Lenz and Ralph Schump. W. H. Yakish, Mrs. H. C. Buell, Mrs. W. H. Yakish and E. C. Green sang “What a Friend
We Have In Jesus,” “God Will Take Care of You,” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” Mrs. Bach was at the piano.
Gertrude, daughter of Kasper and Margaret Frank, was born at Kaeferthal Baden, Germany, Jan. 22, 1852 and died at Lone Tree, Iowa, May 20, aged 82 years. She was married to John Lenz, Feb. 3, 1870. Her husband and three children preceded her in death. Survivors are three sons, George, Bernhardt and Frederick H., all of Lone Tree; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Schump of Iowa City, Mrs. Katherine Struve, of Clinton and Mrs. Charlotte Harvey, of Cedar Rapids.
Mrs. Lenz was a member of the Rebekah lodge of Iowa City, The Lady Militants and W. R. C.
