Boyd Gosnell
KALONA - Boyd Gosnell, 80, died Friday afternoon at a Kalona care center, where he had been a resident for 10 months.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Peterseim Chapel in Kalona, the Rev. Alva Swartzendruber officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens in Iowa City. The I.O.O.F. Lodge will conduct graveside services.
He was born Sept. 23, 1894, at Frytown, son of Ed and Verbena Seitz Gosnell. He married Elsie Hammer March 26, 1918, in Iowa City. She died in June, 1967.
They lived in the Frytown area until 1940, when they moved to Iowa City. He was a retired employee of the Rock Island Motor Transit Co. retiring in 1960. He was a member of the Christian Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa Lung Association.
Surviving are a son, Charles, of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Mrs. H.L. (Beulah) Kisner of Richmond, Va., Mrs. Lloyd (Ruth) Meyer of Riverside, and Mrs. Jack (Myrtle) Schneider of Des Plaines, Ill.; seven grandsons; a great-granddaughter; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Wallace of California, and Mrs. Earl Farley of Cedar Rapids; and two brothers, Raymond and Leland both of Cedar Rapids.
