Harry Grout Dies Suddenly Last Wednesday
Harry W. Grout died at his home in Kalona Wednesday afternoon, August 20, 1969 after suffering a heart attack at the age of 85 years, 10 months, and 15 days.
Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Saturday, August 23 at the Kalona United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Hefty officiating. Interment was made in the Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona. The Peterseim Funeral service was in charge of arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established with funds going to the South Sharon United Methodist Church and the Kalona United Methodist Church. He was a member of the South Sharon Church.
Harry was born in Johnson County, October 5, 1883, to Loren and Emma Sleichter Grout. On February 23, 1910 he was married to Neta Southwick. They farmed in the Kalona area until they reitred and moved to Kalona in 1951.
Survivors include his widow; three sons, Lloid of Waukesha, Wis., Earl of Kalona, and Edwin of Riverside; three daughters, Mrs. Donald Sullivan of Iowa City, Mrs. Carroll Chipman of Iowa City, and Mrs. Robert Moore of Riverside; a sister, Mrs. Emma Madden of Hills; 20 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Four brothers and two sisters died earlier.IN MEMORY OF
