Laverne Y. Roberts, age 64, of Iowa City, died Monday, March 18, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Funeral services will be held 1pm Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, with burial to follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Laverne Yvonne Roberts was born October 31, 1954, in Gary Indiana, the daughter of Dillie and Lillie (Bush) Roberts. Following graduation from high school, she attended beauty school there in Gary. She has done much in her lifetime, but was most proud of being Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma!

Her family includes her children, Roderick Carter and Keeley Carter (Seaton), Anjanette Turner and Maurice Turner, and Jermel Carter and Candy Carter (Varnell); 11 grandchildren, Hailey Carter, Lia Carter, Javonte Nichols and Mersadies Nichols, Johntrell Day, Jaylen Day, Torianna Carter, Jacauri Day, Talicia Lott, Maurice Turner Jr., Ashley Carter and Savanna McAtee;3 great-grandchildren, Atayvia, Ziya and Messiah; 7 siblings, Sylvia Roberts, Dillie Roberts Jr.,
Diane Roberts, Johnnie Roberts, Beverly Wilderness, Paris Roby and Jermaine Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, an aunt and 2 uncles.
