He was born February 25, 1885 near Iowa City, the son of Thomas Franklin Maxwell and Johanna Clara Walters Maxwell.
George was the oldest living graduate of the Kalona high school having been a member of the class of 1902. On September 11, 1907 he was married to Mamie Bishop. He was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one daughter.
Survivors include his widow, two sons, Roland and Harold, Kalona; five daughters, Sylvia, Mrs. Willard Hole, West Chester; Goldie, Mrs. Ray Summers, Klamath Falls, Ore.; Emma, Mrs. Stephen Carris, Fort Collins, Colorado; Edith, Mrs. Fay Boone, Kalona; Gladys, Mrs. Jos Fisher, Kalona. Twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren also survive.Funeral Card
