Rita F. Stockman, 88, of Oxford, died Saturday, March 19, 2005 at Lantern Park Nursing & Rehab Center in Coralville following a brief illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford with Reverend Edmond Dunn officiating. Friends may call Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church where a parish wake service will be held at 7:00 pm. Burial will follow the Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford.

Rita was born March 26, 1916 in Oxford, Iowa the daughter of Michael J. and Anna L. (Griffin) McDonough. She was a graduate of Oxford High School. She married Robert M. Stockman in Oxford, Iowa. Rita was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, Altar and Rosary Society and Woman’s Relief Corp.

She is survived by her children, Carol Tomash (Leo), of Oxford, IA, Janice Strobbe (Ray) of Coralville, IA, Michael Stockman (Debra) of Oxford, Iowa, Joan Lindberg (Gil) of West Branch, IA, Joseph Stockman (Rebecca) of Iowa City, Iowa. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, John and her grandchildren, Bobby Lowenberg, Chuck Tomash, Mark Tomash and Bradley Strobbe.
