Miss Lucille Burianek, 97, formerly of 222 North Governor Street, Iowa City died Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at the Iowa City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. No services are planned, burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City. Memorials may be made in Miss Burianek’s memory to the First Presbyterian Church, Iowa City

Miss Burianek was born on September 19, 1907, in Iowa City the daughter of Edward and Mary (Pape) Burianek. She resided in the family home in which she was born and maintained the home during her years she lived in Davenport, Iowa.

Miss Burianek graduated with high distinction and Phi Beta Kappa membership upon her graduation from the University of Iowa in 1928. She received a Master of Arts degree from Northwestern University. She was on the faculty of Central High School in Davenport, Iowa for many years. Upon retirement in 1970 she returned to family home in Iowa City.

Miss Burianek was a life member of Delta Kappa Gamma educational society, a life member of the State Historical Society and the Iowa State Education association. She was a member of the American Association of University Women.and a charter member of the Quester group of the Johnson County Historical Society. She was also a life member of the University of Iowa Alumnae Association, a long-time member of the Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine and the First Presbyterian Church, Iowa City

There are no immediate family members.
