Funeral services for John Schooley Beeson, 78, who died early Saturday morning at the home of his daughter in Des Moines, were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Hohenschuh funeral home in Iowa City. The Rev. Guy H. Findly was in charge and burial was in Oakland cemetery.

Mr. Beeson was born in Springdale, Iowa, but had lived in Iowa City almost his entire life. He had been a member of the Iowa City police force more than 12 years. He had been in ill health for three months prior to his death.

He is survived by one daughter, Miss Nina Beeson, of Des Moines, and four sons, George, of New York City, Loring, of Washington, D.C., Richard of Chicago, Ill., and Ralph, of Boston, Mass.
