Larry Donel White, 65 of Coralville passed away Friday, October 12, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Hospice Unit, Iowa City. A Gathering time will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City.
Larry was born on September 10, 1953 in Cold Water, MS the son of Ollie Renfroe Jr. and Cleotha White. Larry moved to Chicago at a very young age from Cold Water, MS. He grew up to be a fine and good man and truly a good friend to all that knew him. Larry’s passion was food service and he was a very good cook. He always shared Sunday Dinners and BBQ’s with his neighbors. He would give you the shirt off his back. That’s the type of person he was and would help anyone anytime. Larry was a member of Greater Harbor Baptist Church in Chicago, IL. where he married Heide Pollion on March 10th, 1987. Larry worked many jobs in Chicago including Marshall Field’s food prep worker, from 1993 to 2001. In 2001 he moved to Iowa City and worked for Proctor and Gamble, Oral B, The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Panera, and most recently Monica’s in Coralville. In August 2018 his health began to fail but God didn’t make him suffer long.
Larry is survived by his wife, Heide Pollion of Chicago, IL; two sons, Lawrence Jackson of TN and Jermaine Jackson of TN; step-son, Cortez Pollion of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Shakema Pollion of Chicago, Il, Christina Pollion-Foxx (James Foxx) and Cortez Pollion Jr. of Chicago, IL; Father, Ollie Renfroe Jr. of Buffalo, NY; eight siblings, Joe Renfroe of MS, Barbara Becks of CA, Calvin Ubanks, Faye Smith of MO, Ollie Renfroe Jr., Bonnie Renfroe of TN, Dolores Ingram of TN, Anna Hall of MS; three uncles, Ira Renfroe (Mattie) of Chicago, IL, Robert Renfroe of TN, and Albert Renfroe of TN; seven nieces, Lakia, Chotsani, Luuenia, Rita, Treshonda, Tameka, and Angel; six nephews, Terrence, Patrell, William, Christopher, Joseph Jr. and Trevonte; cousin, Liz Hughes of Atlanta, GA; three sisters-in-law, Rose Hilliard (Anthony) of Temple, TX, Marguerite Pollion of Temple, TX, and Karen Pollion (Joseph Johnson Sr.) of Iowa City, IA; two brothers-in-law, Terrence Polllion of Rock Island, IL and Guy Pollion of Chicago, IL; special friends, Destiny, Patty, Tina, Tommy, Big Dog, Randy, Gail, Brian, Veronica, Mike and Sal; extended family, Ruthie Deberry and many other close friends, family and co-workers.
