Ruth Alma Mae Gier, 85, died peacefully, Monday, October 15th.
Ruth donated her body to the University of Iowa deeded body program. No services are planned.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Southern Poverty Law Center at www.splcenter .org or to Planned Parenthood.

Ruth was born on September 25, 1933 in Clear Hills, Alberta, Canada. On June 19, 1958 Ruth married Richard Gier in Chicago.

Ruth and Richard moved to Iowa City in 2009.

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Richard and their three sons, David (Beth) of Ann Arbor, MI, Daniel (Paquita) of Oshkosh, WI, and Eric (Ami) of Seattle, WA; six grandchildren and extended family.
