Laura Lea Cole, 68, died peacefully Saturday, September 22nd at The Bird House, Johnson County Hospice Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, September 26th at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service with Fr. Ed Fitzpatrick officiating. Entombment will be at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Bird House- JC Hospice Home or to Iowa City Hospice.
Laura was born June 30, 1950 in Iowa City, the daughter of Leslie and Ethel (Hogan) Cole. She was a 1968 graduate of Regina High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Cumberland College.
Laura was employed at UIHC for over 43 years. Many of those years were in the department of orthopedics.
Laura was a longtime resident of Solon. She loved the outdoors, especially gardening in her yard. Laura had “Cotton”, her Tennessee Walking horse, which she raised and would show.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the doctors and staff at UIHC and to the wonderful caregivers at The Bird House.
Laura is survived by her six siblings, Carolyn Cole of Iowa City, Karen McMath (Joe) of West Branch, Leslie Cole Jr. of Solon, Lyle Cole of Iowa City, Lu Ann Cole of New Jersey, and Leland Cole of Iowa City; eight nieces and nephews, Mindy McMath, Jay (Stacy) McMath, John Cole, Ben Cole, Keith Cole, Kevin (Kristi) Cole, Chris Cole, and Cathy Cole; and many extended family.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Linda and niece, Natalie Cole.
