The death of Ezra Thompson occurred at his home at Iowa City Saturday night, May 30. Funeral was held Tuesday from the Methodist church to which he had belonged 73 years.

Mr. Thompson was ninety-six years of age on the 14th of January, having been born in 1829, in Harrisville, Ohio. He married Prudence Matson, there on March 21, 1850. They came to Iowa after the war and settled in Oasis, Johnson county. They have lived in Iowa City since 1892.

Mrs. Thompson passed away four years ago.

To this worthy couple were born several children, of whom four died in infancy. Surviving are Tacie, at home; Carver W., a prominent business man of Iowa City; Lois (Mrs. Arthur Younkin), Iowa City. There are also two grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

Mr. Thompson was a devoted Mason sixty-seven years, having joined the lodge at Cadiz, Ohio, May 18, 1858. He later became a charter member and Master of Wapsinonoc lodge at West Branch, Iowa, and was its last charter member to pass away.
