The death of Mrs. Katie Varney, wife of Charles Varney of Iowa City which occurred on Friday, Dec. 29, was a shock to the many friends of the family in this city. It was generally known that she was in feeble health but not that she dangerously ill. She was 27 years old and leaves a sorrowing husband and four children. She was a woman greatly loved by all who knew her, a devoted Christian and earnest Sabbath School worker. The funeral was held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Sunday School room in the Presbyterian church in Iowa City.
