John A., son of Smith and Jane C. Beers, was born Dec. 14, 1878, in Butler county, Iowa.

When an infant the family moved to Beaver Creek, Minn., where he grew to manhood.

April 25, 1904, he was married to Ethel Barnes. Eight years of their married life was spent in Minnesota and twelve in Canada. In 1921 they came to Iowa City where they have since resided.

To this union six children were born Nellie of Oakdale, Iowa, Jessie of West Branch, Mrs. Genevieve Bragg of Iowa City, John Marvin, who died in infancy, Marvel and Hazel at home.

John passed away at the University Hospital in Iowa City Sunday evening, April 18, 1926, aged 47 years, 4 months and 4 days.

Beside the widow and 5 daughters, he leaves a brother Will of Cochran, Oreg., two sisters, Mrs. Howard Ladd of Eckmann, N. Dak., and Mrs. Clara Rhodes of Bain, Minn.

Funeral services were held yesterday at LuVerne, Minn., with interment in the Maple Wood cemetery at Lu Verne.
