Mr. Mulock died at his home in Colfax, Monday morning in his 96th year. Since the death of his wife late in April, he had been declining rapidly and seemed not to be interested in prolonging life.
He was born in Bannagher, Ireland, May 8, 1828, came to Upper Canada in 1834, settling near Orilla. Fourteen years later he came to the U.S. to Upper Michigan and lived 26 years, working as a millwright and doing contract work for Copper mining companies.
In 1875 the family moved to Solon, Iowa where he engaged in farming until 1888 when, on account of Mrs Mulock’s health they moved to Colfax.
In 1852 Mr. Mulock was married to Miss Mary A. Conklin, who died in 1870. To this union eight children were born, three of whom are living, Mrs. Laura McCune of Chicago, Mrs. Nellie Regley of Des Moines and V. L. Mulock of Cedar Rapids.
In Oct. 1872 he was married to Rachel Ann Payne at Solon. To them four children were born, now living, Mrs. Josephine Kelley of Denver and E. H. Mulock of Des Moines.
Funeral services in charge of Rev. Cannom and attended by masonic brethren of Colfax were held at 10 a.m. Remains were taken same day for interment at Solon, Iowa.
Another substantial, valuable citizen has taken his place over on the other side.
